Earlier on Tuesday, Goldberg issued her third public apology.

"Yesterday on the show I misspoke," she said to open the talk show.

"[The Holocaust] is indeed about race, because Hitler and the Nazis considered the Jews to be an inferior race.

"Now, words matter, and mine are no exception. I regret my comments and I stand corrected. I also stand with the Jewish people."

The 66-year-old Oscar-winning actress, who has been on The View since 2007, first made the controversial comments on Monday's show while discussing a Tennessee school board's banning of a graphic novel about the Holocaust on the grounds that it showed nudity, profanity and suicide.

Amid the uproar, she released an apology hours later.

But on CBS' The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday night, while attempting to clarify her comments, she said the Nazis had lied and actually had issues with ethnicity not race, which caused further offence.

It is not the first time Goldberg has caused controversy.

She said in 2009 that film director Roman Polanksi - who pleaded guilty to "unlawful sex with a minor" in 1977 - was not guilty of "rape-rape".

She also defended Bill Cosby as he faced sexual assault allegations, before reversing course amid a backlash.

Well technically Jewish people are followers of a religion, so she's not actually wrong in her statement.

Don't get me wrong it's still a horrible event what happened to those people in WWII, and like Islamophobia, Anti-Semitism is a prejudice, it's just a religious prejudice rather than a racial one.

Whether you think 'white privilege' exists or not , i've heard and seen some white people take advantage of the system, as they know they won't be treated the same way as a minority would especially in America.



In a ideal world they'd be no racism or people's skin colour mentioned in a negative way. But it happens all the time. Just like stereotyping and racial profiling keeps happening aswell.

As for Whoopi's comments about Polanski & Cosby i have no idea where she's coming from. i can't defend that as we all know they were both guilty.

But i know there's alot of hypocrisy especially in hollywood , as everyone knew Polanski was a creep yet they celebrated him not long ago at an award show.

And there's people who either don't want to believe Cosby is answerable either because they're in denial due to growing up watching him, or because of that awful mess of a court case .

no, there are many, many jewish people that are not religious at all, it's like calling me a christian cause i was baptised ... it has zero meaning and couldnt be further from reality

You can be an atheist Jew, technically. It's an ethnicity based on Israeli genes.

Being a muslim or Christian is "just" being part of a religion, being a Jew is not.

Well that is where it gets complicated really; there were people who were both ethnically Jewish and practicing Judaism, there were people who were converts to Judaism with no Jewish ethnicity, and there were people who were ethnically Jewish but had no faith at all.

HOWEVER, the important thing to remember is that the Nazis persecuted and murdered Jewish people regardless of the above. They drew no distinction between a religious Jewish person and an atheist with Jewish parents. Which means it wasn't about ideology... It was definitely in large part about race.

Hitler very much saw it as a race issue considering he was fighting for the Aryan Race which he thought was the "superior race". Race was very much the driving factor during the Holocaust
