It's not really about it being better or worse, players should be shown the door for racism too, but it's a bit of an odd comparison because it's a completely unrelated question. Both are unacceptable but racism isn't "a worse form of kitten kicking" or vice versa.

Controversially I think it depends on the scale for me.

If it's a one off flippant comment then I think I'd suspend the player.

Admittedly if it's a Footballer harassing someone or being violent to someone just because they're black or asian, then yes kick them out of the club that they play for.
