The chance of earning some extra cash was a massive temptation....as for JK himself he was imo told to behave like that in the name of 'Drama' and TV appeal...but for that he takes a responsibility.
Sadly it was bound to backfire at some point and tragicly someone took their own life as a result of the humiliation.
Same could be said about Trisha or Jerry Springer show , or even Ricky Lake . However all these tv hosts still managed be or act like decent humans, whether it got too cringy or ' freak show like' atleast they tried to help or gave the impression they were trying to resolve something, and actually have a purpose . And as messy and weird as these tv shows got , i don't remember ever hearing about these 3 tv hosts being in a suicide tv scandal. Kyle took things too far, whether he was told to ham up the drama and panto or not.

In the end Jeremy Kyle show just felt like a mean spirited mockery of it's original format, when he started back in 2005? was it ??.... maybe the premise WAS to try and HELP people.

But as the years rolled by things took a dive from bad to worse ,with how he talked to the guests with how he interrupted them and always thought the worst of them. He treated the lie detector as if it was 100% proof that someone was deceitful which was ridiculous. In the end he just made them probably more miserable than they were to start with. He didn't settle or work out anything. But all he cared about was his viewing figures in the end and being mr big shot face of daytime .

I always found it degrading how some guests would gush over him,and put him on a pedestal like he was this 'great big meaningful public figure trying to do good' or something . When in reality he was a gobby idiot and his programme is about humiliating people .

He got off on his little catchphrases from "put something on the end of it " & " it's my show" to "i want to lie in a dark room" , it became more about his egocentric self , and less about being concerned for these people . The bloke got far too big for his boots & the 'banter' he had with his bodyguard steve got so awkward and silly. If Steve didn't work for him.. HE WOULD FLATTEN HIM easily in a different environment .

It's as if Kyle didn't care or forgot that these were real people with real issues, he saw it all as fair game to belittle and insult all for "entertainment", he had the studio audience constantly eating out the palm of his hand. His smugness and cockiness was very off putting in recent years. I know there's been some unpleasant guests on his show , but that's besides the point. Kyle & the production team thought it was ok to treat these people as objects like some twisted game.

He knew all types from poor uneducated , to junkies to anger problems to liars to mental issues would be on his show . And yes some would enjoy their 5 minutes of fame whilst staying in a hotel for free, whilst others wouldn't care about wasting time . But other guests on there clearly felt embarrassed & nervous to even be on a tv show like that ,as it's not exactly something to be proud of . But Kyle still exploited them.
