The point about Irish people experiencing discrimination in the U.K. (not racism) is funny considering the fact that certain parts of Liverpool (to use an obvious relevant example) were known for being notoriously racist but a good chunk (if not most) of white Scousers have significant Irish ancestry. The hypocrisy with racists is funny as hell.
I remember thinking Diane Abbot was disjointed when I met her in person (2012). I thought the mojito stuff was her turning over a more endearing leaf but from the stuff she continues to spout (on Twitter and elsewhere) she continues to embarrass herself.

I’m not stereotyping, Niamh. The thing about white Scousers having significant Irish ancestry is just a fact. I’m not saying that to slate Irish people in any way. That’s not what I’m getting at at all. I’m just saying that the people from Liverpool who were part of the problem good chunks of Liverpool used to have with racism back in the day (not so much now, but as recently as 2008 or even 2012 there were certain areas of Liverpool that black people would be uncomfortable about visiting alone, and you’re just going to take that from someone who knows) were hypocritical and self-contradictory in the sense that it wasn’t too long ago that people quite similar to them in many ways experienced a similar kind of discrimination in Britain in the not-too-distant past.
