presumably they think being gay is not innate to a persons character, and therefore by watching gay things it will somehow transpose itself into that person then also becoming gay...?

which makes them gay in the first place because sexuality may be fluid to an extent but overtly heteronormative society doesn't appear to make gay people straight.
