I agree with this. It’s thoughtless and inconsiderate rather than malicious towards Henry. Although I don’t think he wants to hurt Henry, I believe he is aware he is doing so, but he is putting his own attraction to Matty before his friendship.
I do feel for Henry, as sometimes his facial expressions or reactions do suggest he is feeling hurt.
