On Thursday, 29 September Sheffield Labour Party hosted a fund-raising
event featuring an evening in conversation with Eddie Izzard at Crookes
Social Club in Sheffield. Eddie has recently confirmed a desire to stand as
Labour’s parliamentary candidate in Sheffield Central which will shortly be
vacated by Paul Blomfield who is stepping down. Izzard has not yet been
formally selected by Labour.


As a Sheffield Labour Party member, I am sceptical of Eddie’s proclaimed love
of all things Sheffield, which appears to have come upon him with some
vigour of late as he poses with police or holds forth on issues of Sheffield’s
buses. The buses are a really important issue for Sheffield people, but I don’t
think Eddie has much call to clamber aboard public transport carrying some
of his estimated net wealth of $20 million. I sniff an ego looking for a new
vanity project. Our beloved city of Sheffield is not a “project” for Labour to
hand over to a bored, millionaire bloke in outdated knee-high boots, trying to
reinvent himself as both a woman and an MP.

Eddie fairly recently announced that he is a going to live “in full girl mode”,
whatever that might mean, and wishes to be addressed using “she/her”
pronouns. This came after years of being happy to declare himself a
“transvestite” and challenge gender stereotypes, by wearing dresses and
lipstick. Now he does exactly the same thing, but expects everyone to
believe he is actually a woman.

We had taken seats at the front of a room containing around 300 people,
many of them women. The bar had a long queue and people seemed in good
spirits. As Julie and I became more irritated at the long wait for Izzard’s
appearance on stage, I suddenly spotted a man being ushered through a
curtain at the side, shielded by two women. I realised as he was whisked into
the women’s toilet that it was Eddie Izzard. I told Julie. We both swore
proficiently. It was hard to believe that, in full view of the large audience, a
man would be assisted to the women’s toilet by two other women. These
women were smiling sycophantically and held the door open for him in a
supreme act of betrayal to women of the UK

To be faaaiiiiir, all-woman shortlists shouldn't exist for things which don't relate directly to women. So if the seat that Izzard intends to run for has an all-woman shortlist for its Labour MP, then fair enough, let Izzard join it.

It doesn't bother me what someone is, or how they dress, but what puzzles me is no attempt was made by 'Kellie' to change her voice from man to woman.

I still have no idea why Maloney went public .. his background was the boxing fraternity so there was no way they were gonna be understanding .
Plus he walked and talked like a docker .. even Miley Cyrus couldn’t pull that combination off and she was actually female !!

Look I'll call Eddie a horse if he wants me to. But come on he isn't a woman. He's always been a very bad travestite crossdresser.

Funny thing I've noticed about guys who dress as women is none of them have a woman's dress sense. Eddie looks like awful dressed as a woman.

Oh I beg your pardon ,I don't watch it ...I just assumed the character stayed the same.

Maybe Eddie Izzard is too passable as male ,so continues to play male acting parts . Even though it's confusing.... granted . Tbh I'm still not entirely convinced Eddie Izzard is trans trans , I still see Eddie as a cross dresser , but what do I know.

It's called "male socialisation" versus "female socialisation" - a woman who goes out dressed badly will quickly find out that what she's wearing doesn't suit her or just looks bad, especially during formative years when their peers are less filtered/more openly bitchy. But (I gather?) women learn to pick up the sarcastic/spiteful "you look great, hon" comments in a way that men generally don't. While men who dress badly would either be called eccentric, or just be accepted as a bad dresser, because it doesn't matter what men look like.

So someone who's reached their autumn years as a man, they'd be less likely to get real-like feedback as to when they look bad, leaving them with less self-awareness. And this is apparently a bigger problem when that person is presenting as a woman.
