I'll personally never forgive him for being a part of that frankly offensive "drama" about parenting a child with autism and learning disability. Fair enough if you're clear that you're making a drama about a couple of panicky, useless, unravelling parents who are unable to cope - that certainly happens - but it was painted as a normal/realistic look at the life with a disabled kid when it simply is not like that at all for the vast majority of people, the vast majority of the time. Off topic slightly. It just comes up to re-irk me every time I see Tennant these days.

I had to look it up

There She Goes is a comedy-drama about a severely learning disabled nine year-old girl Rosie (Miley Locke), her dad Simon (David Tennant), mum Emily (Jessica Hynes) and brother Ben (Edan Hayh...

If Posie Parker had worn that shirt and aimed it at trans or gay people in one of her many abusive, bigoted rants against minorities, you’d call her brave and strong for protecting her kids, let’s not play these games

That seems to be the attitude of a whole lot of TRAs as far as i can see. Lots of aggression and threats in their "standing up for trans rights" lots of "Punch a TERF" "Kill a TERF" ""Rape a TERF" etc, bearing in mind the threshold for what a "TERF" is very very low.

I still don't understand how gay people are lumped into this category every time, could you explain that to me? My only concern here is women's rights. This has zero to do with gay people. Gay people rights to equality never conflicted with straight peoples rights, "trans rights" do conflict with women's rights

I mean it's not that they're making light of it, it's meant to be a "raw" comedy, but all I can really say is... it plays out like a random couple who have been coasting through their normal life have suddenly been handed an LD 9-year-old and have no idea what to do. For THAT it seems pretty accurate. Like... they could have had the girl's mum and dad be divorced, the mum dies, and the girl has to go live full-time with dad and his wife who have to re-learn parenting and how to live. There you go, totally fine as a show. But that's not what it is, it's meant to be her actual parents, but it plays out like they've just been plonked in this situation . Realistically you start with a "normal baby", you have a toddler where some things seems slightly different, you start really noticing at 2/3/4... you grow, learn and adapt together. Parents of an LD child who seem bewlindered that their child has LD and are still flailing and panicking constantly ... is just not accurate or realistic whatsoever. And makes it seem to the casual BBC viewer like those of us with actual LD kids are at home in a constant state of chaos.

Notice there’s no mention of what I actually said, because it’s very obviously true and you can’t deny it

Gay people get ‘lumped’ in, because the people leading the anti-trans movement that are hero worshipped by the followers aren’t just anti-trans, they’re just bigots in general, who, if allowed to win in their quest to strip trans people of all their rights, won’t just stop at trans people, they’ll move onto gay people next, the likes or Parker join arms with literal Nazis at their rallies, they openly support religious extremist movements that want to get rid of things like gay adoption and marriage, as well as abortion.

The anti-trans movement doesn’t just affect trans people, there’s already instances of it being used against lesbians and straight cis women who don’t look ‘feminine’ enough in the eyes of the ‘we can always tell!!’ cult

that Kemi should learn to keep her gob shut

women's rights are allowed, and trans rights are allowed too, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, we aren't Russia or North Korea

also ''white privilege'' seriously Kemi, throwing the race card is almost as cliché as the boy who cried wolf

I didn't respond to the rest of it because you're misrepresenting my issues by putting on another group of people I'm not even speaking about or have any issues with in this particular debate. I won't allow you to do that Liam and get away with it. Sorry about that.

Also, what exactly do you want me to say in response to the really hypothetical question you posed (pardon the pun)? It wasn't even a question it was you telling me how I'd respond to something that hasn't happened about someone you clearly believe I hero worship which by the way I don't so I'm not sure why you think that about me. Yeah I think she has some good points sometimes but I don't believe I've posted a whole lot about her on here In regards to the Nazi supporter stuff, as far as I know she's said she didn't invite those people to her event, she seems like someone who isn't afraid to say exactly what she thinks so if she did want and invite Nazis why wouldn't she embrace that? And if she's a secret Nazi lover, why invite them and expose herself?

I don't disagree with any of this, I unfortunately think this is 100% correct and a lot of (perhaps at this point the majority of) the people who have lept into the trans debate are - most certainly - not there because they give a stuff about women. Most of them are on top of it all, raging misogynists.

Where I disagree with you is in believing that it's of utmost importance to continue an unwavering united front that ignores a multitude of safety concerns and proven, well understood mental wellbeing concerns (that cause direct harm TO gender-questioning individuals and the LGBTQ community) for fear of ceding ground to "the enemy".

There has to be a more sensible, more nuanced approach that ignores the thick, blinkered loud-mouths on both "sides". Where are the ****ing adults, I swear.

Like the Cass report as an example of things being ignored

The report that Badenoch has admitted was set up to come out with a specific result because they placed a bunch of already publicly anti-trans people on the commission, a report that has been condemned by the vast majority of health boards around the country and Europe

There are some valid concerns out there, but the answer isn’t to punish an entire demographic of people because of it and make it harder for people to be who they are, which is the entire point of the anti-trans movement, it will lead to deaths like all other previous anti-trans and anti-lgbt legislations have and I think that the majority of these ‘protect women and kids’ crowd, would be very much okay with that, because it’s not about ‘protecting’ women and kids, it’s about harming a demographic they don’t like

If the people with genuine concerns want to be taken seriously, which they should be, maybe they shouldn’t have highlighted and elevated people who rub shoulders with Nazis and support religious fundamentalist groups who despise everything not straight and male, hateful, bigoted people have been allowed to become the face of the movement and they are driving the narratives, all while really not giving a **** about women at all

Oh Liam come on, it doesn't matter how it's said or by who, people are always shut down if they raise concerns.

quite hypocrite of shutting down someone's opinions opposed to her own, also being homophobic is quite a bad look, you know

if ur parents are a doctor and a professor at a university, you didn't exactly grow up poor

so i massively doubt Kemi has lived a bad life, or knows what struggles are

Nigeria and UK have a good relationship as well, many nigerian people (businesspeople, doctors, professors) go to the UK to study as well

Parents of an LD child who seem bewlindered that their child has LD and are still flailing and panicking constantly ... is just not accurate or realistic whatsoever. And makes it seem to the casual BBC viewer like those of us with actual LD kids are at home in a constant state of chaos.

…oh, I’ll try to seek this out and watch it…I personal interest in such a story…I had read some quite excellent reviews and know that it’s based on personal experiences of the writers and creators etc…their daughter has a very rare disease which went undiagnosed for a lengthy time…early diagnosis always plays such an important part for families…anyway, I’ll try to find time to watch it…/see if it’s on catch up…

Yeah I dont associate with any of those types, don't follow Posie Parker, not a Trump supporter, not a particularly good Catholic, I'm just me with my own concerns but I am still called a TERF and a bigot and various other names I am sure, and there are alot of people like me, so how do you square that one Liam?

The Prime Minister said:

Freedom of speech is the most powerful feature of our democracy.

If you’re calling for women to shut up and wishing they didn’t exist, you are the problem
