i think under the hood, most americans are quite happy with political violence and more and more are choosing to say it openly. I actually remember the 60's where assassination attempts in america were common.

…there was no cash paid to President Biden…Thomas Matthew Crooks so far as we know, made one small donation to some Democratic Party organisation one time when he was 17yrs old and not even an adult yet…he then went on to hold Republican views more than Democratic views…(…we are told…) …but he was still barely an adult at 20yrs old…so for me this is less about left/right…Democrat/Republic and all of that type of agenda…it’s how a man of such a young age became so obsessed with guns, which is what seems to have been his motivation atm…he saw himself as some type of ‘crack shot’ or something….the environment that causes that in young people in a gun holding society is what should be scrutinised more…but it won’t be because it’s American culture…

Exactly, not sure why people tie themselves in knots over gun ownership in America, that is a decision for the American people, nothing to do with us, you can have a view on it but knife crime doesn't seem as common as it is in the UK and I am sure they have a view on that also, banning knifes and restricting sales to over 25s has made no inroads into stopping it either, we are not any better than them just because they 'bear arms' and that always seems to be the narrative, dumb Americans with their guns

You can 100% have a view on gun ownership in the US it when people who are endlessly insisting on the right to gun ownership are screeching all sorts of nonsense when their beloved orange messiah has had his ear shot off, when they spend vast amounts of energy justifying/explaining why tens of thousands of dead civilians every single year isn't justification for gun control.

Knife crime is primarily gang-related crime and the reason they have less knife crime is because the gangs carry guns .

But that's a bit of an aside and not the point. The point, really, is not that I have an issue with American stances on guns (their own business, as you say) but rather that I find it nonsensical when people are out in force blaming all sorts of silly things as being "the reason this happened!!" without taking a second to say "Y'know, maybe it would have been better if he had only been able to buy a Maccies Milkshake on the local highstreet, instead of an AR15".

Brazil has a higher number deaths by firearms, I don't see anyone imagining they can influence gun policy there. Going by my own family members in the US, most of whom own guns, they are fully versed in, and committed to, gun safety. I do think the US should think about restricting some firearms, but that's for them to decide.

I'm glad we have tough restrictions here though because after the football last night I get the feeling my brother might have been in the frame of mind to climb a tower with a rifle.

When you have the most politically influential country in the world at the point of being extremely polarised politically... and the current cultural beacon that represents the side of that divide that (classically) is more in favour of unrestricted gun ownership gets shot...
