Seeing Emma and some of the others push them closer also made me realize that there is more pressure than we think for showmances to form. They get peppered questions in the DR and probably become the butt of every joke. So I can see why most showmances look so messy and forced, especially in the beginning, because they don't stand a chance of forming organically.
I can see also with the house being intense if maybe having a showmance can be seen as a way to pass the time and help with being forced to live with strangers, or so they think. So people may agree to things they normally wouldn't to keep disagreements down... being in the house is complicated enough being on their own.
