Even though I didn't see the original in its entirety I've heard the second one is much the same. Loads of critics too. But nonetheless I enjoyed it. Hope you do, too.

Cuckoo - 2024

Movie started off well but then lost its way and veered into many bizarre areas which I didn't find interesting or scary.

2/10.

Watched Trap 2024 over two days because it was a long film, and I needed a break in the middle.

Movie starts out with a father and daughter attending a concert together, and we soon find out things are not what they seem. I did think this movie might be set in one place throughout its duration but it does move about a bit and with that it loses some credibility and does go a bit silly.

The ending is like a scene from any other standard horror movie when there's a nutter on the loose.

Err, I'll give it 6.5/10.

Just seen Gladiator II and would give it a 7/10. Very entertaining at times and some brilliant battle scenes but the main character didn't do it for me either with his acting or his arc. The plot was a bit haphazard too and some of the dialogue was pretty clunky

Denzel Washington was great though

Smile 2

I'd have to rewatch the first one to see which I prefer, but I thought this new one was really engaging and interesting. Its scares are much fewer in number than the first one, but those scares are effective in creating a greater sense of unease and dread, I think. At times, however, it seems to forget it's a horror movie first and foremost, and instead veers off into being a slightly pretentious-seeming meditation on grief and trauma. Admittedly, that's the whole subtext of the Smile demon, but they lay it on a bit thick at times in this sequel.

But of course Denzel is in a class of his own. He steals every scene he's in.

I've watched the first two Terrifier's recently.

I have really enjoyed them, Art The Clown is becoming my modern day Jigsaw Killer replacement.

And Lauren LaVera needs to be in that outfit for every single Terrifier Film that she appears in.

But seriously this series feels like a blend of the classic 80's Slasher Films meets Saw in terms of the psychological torment towards the victims, and of course the violence.

..13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi……a Michael Bay adaption of the true story of the Benghazi militant attack on the American diplomatic compound in 2012 …it was obviously gruelling and harrowing and intense and one of those movies/stories that you barely blink though…8/10…

I personally find them funny.

I do think that the third entry is decent, but weaker than the first two imo.

I don't know if that's a good or bad sign that I'm instantly thought of when seeing clips of Art The Clown.

I hope that you're doing well btw, GoldHeart.

I'm worried about the two lead actresses.

They look like they've been mainlining Ozempic, they're so gaunt and fragile looking.

And permanently spaced out. They're just weird. They take the film so seriously, as if it isn't just a fun Broadway musical

Though, it's pretty funny how seriously the audience is taking it - middle-aged men getting furious and triggered over a fairy godmother film what did they expect it to be like?

New York I Love You……I love those combination of short unrelated/unconnected stories, type movies…like an Edward Hopper painting in a movie version of looking in through a city window…and the cast was truly fabulous……I loved it, it was just an easy watch…sometimes it’s good to have that balance of not getting too much below the surface but just to feel more of a glimpse of people/characters…7/10….

Maneater (2022)

it stars Trace Adkins, who wants revenge against a great white shark after it killed his daughter for sport

also stars Jeff Fahey, Nicky Whelan, Porscha Coleman, Branscombe Richmond

very enjoyable killer shark film

The supernatural and ghosts don't scare me one bit.

The only things in horror I do find scary - in fact very scary - are vampires and zombies. Whenever I have a nightmare it's either about one or the other, or both!

So a friend was telling me to watch an Irish horror film called Oddity (2024). I said it doesn't sound like the kind of thing I'd enjoy or be scared by - BUT I downloaded it today, started watching it but found it very boring.

I hear a lot of people found this film very creepy. Not to me it wasn't. It wasn't scary one bit.

Based on what I personally thought, just 2/10.
