My old mum used to tell us to do as much preparation as possible, well before the Christmas Day family gathering/meal .. which includes doing all the shopping days BEFORE .. no last minute shopping trips which are usually extremely stressful and expensive !!
My personal snippet is to put a £2 coin in each cracker - the look on the faces of children and adults is worth the expense
