That was the best episode of television I've ever watched! The cinematography was amazing. It was so sad but beautiful that they still long for each other. The baby loss and infertility storyline and how it affected their relationship was realistic to say the least, that was very well written and yeah, it sucks. I absolutely love that Gemma still has some fight in her! I still don't understand what the macrodata refinement actually is and why they have people watching them on camera?

I really enjoyed that episode. I miss the gang but that episode is integral because it’s given us insight to Miss Casey and what she’s been going through. The fact she tried to escape and failed is interesting too.

…I do totally get that missing of the whole crowd but Mark is such a pivotal character and there has obviously been an attraction between him and Helly R but now we’ve seen Helena kind of ‘obsessed’ with him too…it felt important to show the back story of ‘the love of his life’, Gemma…and especially as Gemma seems to be being ‘kept prisoner’ and there’s and a determination to not have her see Mark again…

…I guess that we don’t know for sure that it is Gemma or whether it’s a ‘clone Gemma’ who has been given her memory…and maybe she’s allowed ‘room steps’ until she’s perfected as a clone…in the goat room, they were cloning sheep so may also be attempting to clone humans and Gemma could be the ‘prototype’ so actually may be dead/explaining everything you say above…

…yes that’s exactly what I was thinking/that Miss Haung is Gemma taking her steps/going through her stages…at first when the pregnancy was shown, I thought…could she be their child…?…but I’m wondering what the connection with the goat room and the cloning and why she can only ‘advance’ so many steps each day and why they can’t allow her to leave and go into the outtie world because she isn’t complete yet…but also I’m not sure how an outtie of her would ever be allowed because as you say, Gemma is dead and confirmed dead…hmmmmm….

What do we think as well about her being told that Mark was remarried and had a daughter? An outright lie (most likely) or could be true and this could be years later than we think and Helly or Helena is pregnant?

The meaning of the title ‘Chikhai Bardo’ can only be explained by introducing the Buddhist transitional state of “bardo.” After the death of the Buddha, several scholars associated with Buddhism proposed the supposed existence of a liminal state between death and rebirth. Tibetan Buddhism followed this claim and divided life, death, and rebirth into six states, forming six bardos. While the first three concern varying states of living, the fourth one, Chikhai bardo, explains the apparent state that begins with the dying process and ends with the final external and internal breath. In other words, Chikhai bardo is a phrase used to describe the process of dying ahead of a rebirth.

Caught up last night! And yes I'd agree with the likely theories that Gemma is a clone (especially with the goats), the techniques they've used to create Severance are also being used experimentally to transfer consciousness entirely from one body to a new clone body - I would add to that, though, that if it's the case it seems likely that Gemma was somehow involved (e.g. had an implant) BEFORE her accident, or possibly, Lumon briefly had access to her after the accident but before she died. I don't know how they'd have "harvested" her memories otherwise.

Also possibly a good call with Ms Huang being a 2.0 clone.

They're also doing a lot of talking about souls/soulmates... and one clear thing they're indicating is that Helly R and Mark S, and both of their outies, seem to feel a "connection" to each other no matter which "version" they're in. Same with Irving and Burt, and Dylan and his wife. And yet Mark S (innie) and Ms Casey didn't seem to feel that connection or any recognition... potentially, because she is a "copy" of Gemma not any form of the original, thus will discover that their "innate" connection isn't there.

I'm also pretty sure they'll all end up being reintegrated which will be interesting to see. It's been shown that they basically ARE the same people - Mark S innie and outie are basically very similar in all ways. Irving seemed different but in the end, his "outie" personality started to come through in his "innie". Dylan is an interesting one because he's just a version of himself that "found something he's good at" and feels confident in himself because of that, whereas his "outie" is aimless and a bit depressed because he feels useless. Helly R will be the most interesting IMO because "innie" Helly firmly for obvious reasons wants to believe that they are nothing alike, but in all likelihood, "innie" Helly is what "outie" Helena would be like if she hadn't been raised in the family she was raised in; the person she's become as an "outie" is strongly corrupted by power/her relationship with her father... so when they reintegrate it may change "outie Helly" significantly (i.e. she'll end or change Lumon when it passes to her)
