Default Would you switch seats on a plane so a mum/dad could sit next to their child?

Seen a few of these stories kicking around where people have said they wouldn’t and the parents kicked off. Would you switch?

100%.
Although as a parent I would always pay for an assigned seat to ensure I was sat with my child.
Would always swap though

No I wouldn’t. Surely if they wanted to sit together they’d buy seats together.

Yes in most cases, although you do some entitled behaviour, also it shouldnt be an expectation as some people are nervous fliers and want to sit with their family or whoever

….sometimes it’s not so affordable and stretches that bit too far…but it’s also that, that would be a parent action/decision …but impacts the child, the seat moving for me would be for the child more than anything …for them being in a situation that could be upsetting for them…

Not if i paid for an aisle or window seat and they want me to move to the middle. They would have had the option to pay for seats together. If it was a like for like seat then I would

There has to be at least one parent seated with the child though if I’m correct so more times than not, the child is not alone on the flight.

I would likely move if I didn't have my own kid with me but I would judge them for not booking a seat with their child.

…ahhh ok, that’s fair…I assumed that the child would have had no parent sitting with them…(…I’d just woken up…..)…but yeah, I understand that’s a scenario I wasn’t thinking….and actually, the parent sitting apart might be thinking…oooooo, nice peaceful flight…..

It depends.

If I have paid for my seat for a specific reason, then so. For example, if I am on a long haul night flight and paid for a window seat so I can use the 'wall' to sleep and the seat I am being asked to swap to is not the same, then no. I wouldn't.

If it means NOT moving means I am stuck next to the young child then yes I probably would move because I'd rather not sit next to a child on a long haul flight anyway.

If the flight is a couple of hours, I haven't paid extra and it doesn't matter where I sit then yes, I'd move.

I think if you're flying with kids and want to be sat all together, you should be expected to pay for it. Yes, it's expensive, but kids are expensive and it's not up to anyone else to have a worse journey or lose out of money because the parents didn't plan properly or didn't want to stump up the cash.

I think any parent that kicks off is the type of parent that thinks having a child should offer them specifically privileges, luckily I think most would understand if someone turned around and said they didn't want to move because of X, Y and Z.

Actually if BBXX has already reclined his seat in front of me I'd be up before the other parent has even fully explained their situation.

Hey! If I am in a window seat in which I can rest my head against to go snooze then that seat remains unreclined!
