They had loads of civilians running around so they can’t just start shooting. They have to put some plan in place, especially as this isn’t a common occurrence in Australia.
They also had to try deal with baying crowd once the shooters were down. I get the crowd are angry/upset but the police were right to push them back, you never know if the shooters had explosives on them.
Unsure why people are coming for the police, when it’s the shooters people should be annoyed at.

Not coming for the police exactly, but asking questions. Jewish people are under such threat worldwide atm that it seems hard to believe that two gunmen can stroll around for several minutes picking off attendees at a Hanukkah event in a major capital city in a prime tourist location. Might be unfair but it we'll find out in due course
