This last stretch of work before Xmas always feels like running a marathon while already wearing your Christmas jumper—everyone’s smiling, but inside we’re counting the minutes and pretending to concentrate. Then comes the final weekend of panic buying, when you brave the shops for those “last few bits” and somehow come home with three tins of biscuits, novelty socks, and still no batteries. Days blur into a wonderful haze of nice meals, festive treats, and refilled glasses, where you genuinely don’t know what day or time it is, and for once, you don’t need to care because routines are on pause and magic takes over. And the best part is realising that Christmas doesn’t need to be perfect—it just needs to be real, shared, and warm, because in the end, the greatest gift isn’t what’s under the tree, but the people beside it and the memories you carry long after the lights come down.

I have been reading A Christmas Carol by Dickens this week and came across this lovely description of Christmas to kick off my entry:

"There are many things from which I might have derived good, by which I have not profited, I dare say," returned the nephew; "Christmas among the rest. But I am sure I have always thought of Christmas-time, when it has come round - apart from the veneration due to its sacred name and origin, if anything belonging to it can be apart from that - as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys. It's Christmas eve! I haven't been well this week , so i still have the shopping and Christmas tree to do later
This year I'll be spending Christmas on my own, a chance to relax and get over this flu.
I don't know why, I always get sick round this time of the year.
So I don't usually plan anything
Hope you all have a great Christmas and New year with your families.
I'll be calling mine later.
My sister is a carer, so she'll probably be working during the holidays.
I couldn't be more proud of her, the work that she does : i admire her so much. Helping people in need

Happy Christmas Day. It's after 2am but this is not my actual Calendar entry yet. It's from a thread I posted a short while back which I don't think many people saw and its about my Tibb Bestie Ness and what she means to me. She deserves many accolades and praise. So I've reposted it in here before I do my actual Advent Door. Please read....

I've known her a very long time now and am soooo happy we started meeting up for overnight jaunts. The first time I saw her I thought omg how cute! And I love her Italian accent. She's such a gem.

I feel like we were destined to know each other, she's like the missing piece of my jigsaw. I've never had a friend like her, she's truly one of a kind. Not just a Tibb Bestie but overall in my life. She'd do absolutely anything for anyone if they treat her as she deserves to be treated. An extremely caring lady. She's greatly enthusiastic about cats, music, dancing, reality TV and travelling to name just a few things.

Friends have come and gone in my life, I only have 2 now, Viv and Ness cos trust has been broken so many times over the years. But there's others on Tibb I have so much time for as well, Cherie Livia Ammi Jake and plenty others. Won't name check everyone cos I'd be bound to miss someone out.

Back to Ness....she'll probably get teary eyed when she reads this, she's an emotional person, just like me. Would not swap her for the world. I have found a brilliant song that suits our friendship to a T, I'll add it to this post in a minute..

My Advent Entry Part 1.

Sooooo it's Christmas Day! The 25th of December 2025. I turned 56 this year and it's been quite a good one, looking forward to the day ahead. Let's get started as I invite you all to Step In with me.....

So today I'm cooking and washing up as a treat for Karl and Joan who can chill out and watch TV! We've already done presents as it was things we all knew we were getting. I got given new boots, perfume, money and a range of make up. So today is all about chilling. Cooking isn't a chore, I love it so it's a pleasure.

It's after 3am. I'm sat quietly reflecting on Tibb matters, the memories I have and share with people here, some have come and gone, some pop in on occasion amd then there's the rest of you who are still merrily posting away and I have so much love in my heart for all.

Our Tibb community is wonderful, it's good aspects far outweigh any negatives. Brings me joy in my heart, and plenty of laughter. Sometimes it's therapeutic even.

Quickly want to mention that James and staff keep it all ticking over, so much live for that too.

Tibbfolk I salute you.

I'll just go get another Christmas song and will post again very shortly.

I think I'll pop back to bed for a bit, it's now after 3.30am and the sprouts are waiting to be peeled in preparation. Oh the joys lol. I'll do them in plenty time.

PS I'm excited for Christmas Coronation Street. So much going on, and I'm a massive Swarla fan, it's all happening, very suspenseful. I'll say no more.
