No one said it’s a magic wand. The point is that beliefs don’t exist in a vacuum either. People who feel stable, included and like they actually have a future are way less likely to get pulled into extreme or hostile views, that’s just basic social reality.
Pretending culture alone explains everything is just another way of ignoring poverty, isolation and bad policy. If beliefs were fixed and unchangeable, integration would be impossible for anyone, ever. But we know that’s not true because it literally happens all the time.
