I love seeing the creativity of policy making in other countries compared to our government which can never do anything different or think outside the box. We did for a little bit during Covid but otherwise we just plod on with tiny tweaks here and there and otherwise acting terrified of any meaningful policy decision. You often find in Eastern Europe that the countries are obviously poorer but they have better public transport systems and they actually try interesting new ideas to improve the quality of life for their citizens. i never thought I would say this but I think we were lucky that the Tories were in power during Covid, I dont think Starmer or Reeves would have rolled out Furlough, Reeves first budget has lost 30,000 hospitality jobs already and probably many more will go as people wont want to go out to eat or have it delivered dur to the extra costs involved
