that just what she does.. simon cowell cant sing for **** either but he still judges on live singing.

Simon Cowell is a BIG music manager and has wide music knowledge
Louis Walsh is also a manager of a few bands and has good music knowledge

Simon wanted Cheryl to join the Britain's Got Talent panel in 2007 but refused to sign up for it and Amanda got the job

Simon then made the fourth judge on X Factor with Cheryl in mind in 2007 but she refused and because it was already public knowledge he had to settle for Dannii who has had reasonable success and was already judging America's Got Talent, so he knew she was a good judge. Then Sharon quit and Cheryl finally signed up making Dannii irrelevant as the performing judge, especially as Cheryl comes from reality TV.

if Cheryl hadn't refused X Factor first time we might still have Sharon on the panel

yes but Simon isn't a singer and never claimed to be, Cheryl is supposed to be able to sing

She did yeah. She sings along occassionally to what she recorded earlier on before the live transmission. There's many moments in the vid where you can see she's not singing but her voice is still heard.

To me it seemed like she sung live but the studio version was playing in the background, when she wasn't singing you could hear the studio one (it was a lot quieter)

Nah, there's moments where the chorus is being sung and she's out a synch or just not even singing.
