That's definitely easier said than done; he should try not to fear social rejection.
Patrick, to me it sounds as though you're afraid people are going to misinterpret the things you are saying. You shouldn't worry about it, unless you are instinctively very blunt.

E.G (Using your conversation to base off)
"Oh, I'll probably be sitting at my computer fapping to some lesbian porn later."


But, you could try a different approach where you give less information, but still enough information to form a conversation from.
"Probably just staying at home. Why, what about you?"

From that you're not lying, and you can form a conversation from it! You should try thinking about what you're saying before you say it, but not thinking about it too much that you end up having to mumble something :P
