We don't need luxuries. We want them. Not need them.

A small amount would go along way. Sparing a pound, or even less, still goes a long way. The amount of money you spend during a week on snacks and drinks would seem like a fortune to them. Even if the majority of the world all donated a penny each, that would amount to a lot of money. If you aren't willing to spare the smallest bit of money that you don't need, then you, and others who think the same, have a problem.

But, they make us feel better
We are here to enjoy our own lives, not giving money to other people we dont even know!

Yes, they make us feel better. But similarly, that money would make those people feel better.

We're here to enjoy our own lives, yes. But if you honestly believe that a few pence that you could quite easily spare will help you enjoy your life more, then you're living in dreamland.
