Simon Cowell has confirmed that he will not be appearing in next year's auditions stage of Britain's Got Talent.

The music mogul, who recently hinted at scaling back his role on the programme, said that he will rejoin the show for the semi-finals.

He told Reveal: "I won't be doing the Britain's Got Talent auditions next year. I will join the show at the semi-final stage.

"I will eventually leave but nothing is decided yet. We launch X Factor [in the US] next year too, which is a huge challenge."

Simon can finally get shot of him from X Factor by giving him the BGT job which is a much bigger show than XF anyway. I'd imagine next year Louis will do the auditions and then the following year, Louis will also do the live shows. I can't really see anyone else doing it, what self respecting person would turn up for the auditions only to be replaced for the main part of the show?

It was probably thought about before, then the opportunity arised, and they thought they'd try Louis out to see how well he'd do, and if it went well, then they'd confirm things, and I should suspect, confirm that he's the replacement. I'd hate to see him leave XF though.

If it were true do you really think Cowell would be announcing it through a third-rate gossip magazine?

All they've done is taken some quotes from last week and twisted them to suit their story. Unfortunately so called journalists on such publications time and time again get away with such practices.


If he ever should quit though, he should quit completely - his replacement is screwed if Cowell turns up at the semi-final stage. And under no circumstances should Louis Walsh be even considered for the job - the best way of replacing Cowell is to go for someone completely different, as another music mogul will always be a wannabe Cowell.

I don't think he truly believes that they are talented though, they're a gimmick and they can make money for a bit, they're probably making more than the other finalists who were clearly more musically talented so I think Louis is more on the ball than people give him credit for.

And yeah i think he'd be great, I thought he was very funny last week

So despite Cowell's flat denial earlier in the week, the press running with this now and claiming Cowell will quit the audition rounds because he's fed up with Amanda and Piers putting through acts he doesn't think have talent.

Now Fleet Street fiction writers, I really don't see the logic in Simon being so annoyed with the acts the other judges put through that he will give up his say completely at the auditions and give them free reign to put through who they like.
