It is yet another term that is not actually offensive but some PC types made 'deemed' it offensive because they (in their minds) receive power and more authority the more 'offense' they can find.

In reality, you could have found the 10,000 times this term was used and none of them in any derogatory, marginalizing, negative or insulting way AT ALL.

I'm not saying its an awesome term and everyone loves it but it is not now and never was offensive in itself or in common use.

Basic answer - the hysterical PC correctness gone wild in the UK
