I'm not sure how or why he came back to life, but when he did they ran the same test they ran on Claire (they said her results came back as bad aswell), so they knew he had been 'claimed' by MiB.

If they would have went to the Temple, and Sayid had not have killed Dogen, then MiB would have never been able to get in there at the candidates. So you can blame Sayid about the Temple ending up being useless.

Sayid wasn't claimed by MIB till after that though and Claire seemed very easily convinced off MIBs side once some one tried.
