She's interesting, quirky, different, has a nice voice [not the strongest, but it's nice], and has stage presence. That's essentially what the 'X Factor' is.

Most mainstream artists nowadays don't have much talent - so what's the difference? That's the market they're going to be competing in.

I don't think she has talent nor do I think she's interesting, but I suppose one mans interesting is another mans irritating.

I don't care about most mainstream artists tbh I watch the show for real talent and exceptional voices neither of which fits Katie

thats one of the things she lacks for me when she performs and thats stage pressence,if it werent for my mom liking her so much i would have forgotten the performances by now.

As far as the press go, there are some folk who invite the attention - katie seems like one of these people.

The problem is, when you invite attention you put yourself at risk of negativity which is exactly what has happened to Katie.

She is so so desperate for fame that some people, journalists included, take an instant dislike to that trait

With regard to her talent, I like the quirkyness but quite frankly the over the top drama that surrounds her and her mediocre voice is a turn off for me

I, in all honesty, cannot be completely convinced that the panic attacks are not just a rouse for sympathy, votes and yet more attention

I think the only terrible song choice she has had is We are the champions in the first week, She has sung a few Etta james songs though.. great songs but probably over half the audience that watch X factor have never heard them before... wouldn't even be suprised if most of them don't even know who she is to be honest.

The jungle book was terrible. Lovely performance, looked stunning, but to be honest that song wouldnt show anyones vocals off. This week was quite bad too.

Her surivival songs are great though, which makes me think she should be picking her own songs, it seems a bit like cheryl is knacking her up

That said, I can give or take her. Her voice is OK but nothing special really. And the song choices for her have been terrible. I think cheryl is focusing on cher more for some odd reason...and just throwing anything at the other girls.

I never said everyone - of course there'll be people that don't like her performances, and they're entitled to that opinion. But I would say a large majority have been influenced by the negative stories in the press. Stories that she's a 'slag' will put quite a lot of women off, a lot of girls I know has simply referred to her as a 'slag', the stories of her being up herself will also put some people off etc. It definitely has an effect. The press effects a lot of things. The more something is written about someone for example[whether negative or not], the more people discuss it and become aware of it. That's why people buy these tabloids/magazines - because they want to read the stories and 'believe' them. No one's going to buy something they know is lies are they? So they must believe them. I genuinely think it has an effect. Another example would be 'Sachsgate' with Ross and Brand - many people were complaining when they hadn't even listened to the audio, as a result of it being all over the press.

And I agree that the song choices have been terrible, hence why I hope [and somehow believe] there's some truth behind the claims that she's refused the choice this week. I'm glad she's done that, because like you said, her sing-off performances have been miles ahead of all the other performances she's done...

I didn't like Katie and Cher when they went to Cheryl's house. Because neither of them could sing a full song.

Since the Live Shows I think they have both been so different and fantastic!!

They are not the most likeable people but they are two people I would LOVE to see on The X Factor tour.

Sadly though.. don't think Katie will be make it to the top 8
