Yeah, but they know these are make believe (although my one swears she's seen Peter Pan!)
They are getting told in a very serious manner from people they trust (their teachers) that this is actually true! It's just madness to me!
My daughter is clever enough to differentiate between fairy tales and real life, but her questions re JC are just too much!..

Why would they hammer nails through his wrists? (me; hmmm)
Did Jesus come back to life? (me; nope, that's not true)

She's never asked i I believe if a pumpkin can be turned into a golden coach.. she just knows that they're fairy tales

Well they hammered nails through his wrists as punishment because they thought he was lying, why not say that?

And you kind of put your foot in it by telling her Jesus was real, not denying God's existance and then saying that he didnt come back to life tbh

Oh yeah.. I'm going to tell a 6 year old that the normal punishment for lying is crucifiction!

How did I out my foot in it? I believe there was a man called Jesus.. I don't belive in god though. I don't belive JC's mam was a virgin,I don't belive he could walk on water and I certainly don't belive he rose from the dead! It's NOT true and anybody who argues these points with me must be barking!

Umm.. where did I say "normal" punishment? I didnt. It was simply the punishment they used for Jesus, nothing normal about it, well it wouldnt be normal today. Back then crucifixition was a method of punishment, I dont see the problem with telling your daughter what used to be done.

You told her that Jesus was real, you didnt deny the existance of God, therefore it is logical for her to assume that what she heard about Jesus was correct. I dont care whether you think Christians are "barking" or not, but you cannot ignore the fact that Easter & Christmas exist because of Christianity and I'm not surprised the school discussed the origins behind the two holidays.

I'm not wound up at all.. not in the slightest. This thing we're doing is called deabte and is perfectly healthy and not personal in the slightest. I like you but also like the fact that we can discuss our differing opinions, hopefull without falling out..
