TOWIE is actually scripted ie: the characters are told what to say.
I know people who worked as extras on there and it is 100% SCRIPTED. BB is manipulated but in regards to being "scripted" the housemates are not told what to say or stand in a certain position for the cameras to get the best angle or reshoot scenes like TOWIE housemates just react naturally to a situation they are in. ps: I like cats
