I think the whole thing - from Aaron's reaction, BB's warning and even the public reaction to it all is OTT.

I can't help but feel that BB was doing nothing more than trying to simply avoid racism accusations from being used - and was doing nothing more than merely pointing out to Jay that his innocent enough comment, (which let's be honest here, it was) - simply could be miscontrued.

Was BB wrong? No I don't think so. They've pointed it out - they didn't say Jay had been out of order, didn't accuse the guy of anything. All they did was say, 'Look, be smart and just be careful ... you know how these things can be blown out of all proportion'. Which I think was correct.

Aaron had a whole different set of reasons for his reaction - and although I can understand his upset - I also feel he was OTT. He could have explained to Jay why he personally found it upsetting - (re the wheelchair and his wife) - and I'm sure that would have smoothed a lot over. In Jay's defence, I doubt he was even aware of Aaron's wife's situ.

Again, Jay's comment wasn't a personal one: it was a quote from a movie, was meant in fun (and meant to actually be one in which 'boosted' black males!), rather than be offensive.

I have had this conversation with a black friend of mine this morning and the only thing he found offensive is people jumping on the racism button just to try and make someone look bad and also pissed off at the patronising attitude of some people that think black people need looking after like they cant defend themselves.

I do still think there's some part of the story missing as to why Aaron was so upset. It doesn't make sense that Jay woke Aaron up to tell him about it when they're not exactly buddies in the house.

The way he told him though it was almost like he was trying to explain it to him, so maybe BB had said something about Aarons wife? I don't know, something was definitely missing some where in the story. This is happening alot actually with Big brother in general since this series started. Something always feels wrong about peoples reactions to things, like we've missed out on an important piece of the puzzle

Remember though: something must have been discussed earlier: because jay actually said WTTE to Aaron, "Remember, before when you said about black....and the thing about wheel.... (then points to a chair) at which point - Aaron wasn't clicking on because he asked Jay who had been saying that kind of stuff... to which Jay replied 'me'." That's when Aaron was shocked...and couldn't believe Jay had referred to such a thing.

I can only go on the premise that some discussions had taken place earlier regarding either race and /or the wheelchair disability - which may have accounted for Aaron being shell shocked. I don't know if Jay did know about Aaron's own situation - but certainly, some discussion had been made earlier. (which makes me think, that it was the further discussion, after Jay making the 'commented quote' - that it was THAT, rather than his initial quote, that prompted the warning from BB to Jay - rather than the actual quote itself - but the quote that 'may' have led to a more indepth discussion?).

Who knows.... but that's my take

The only big brother in the world with no live feed and its flopped go figure.

It's such a shame too because apart from the lack of L/f, I think C5 have done well with it. But I don't know if I'll watch next series (if there is one) if they don't bring the L/f back, because I constantly feel like I'm being played by C5

I get the feeling there is a good series of big brother happening that C5 have put a lot of work into but we are missing it.
I know people are sick of hearing it and im sick of talking about it but why on earth are we the only country in the history of big brother not to get live feed wtf is wrong with endemol!!!

I wish i could turn this crap off its breaking my heart seeing the show in this state

I know You know even, the few hours in the evening after C5s programmes end would make a massive difference. Just a few hours to get more of a feel for the HMs and of what's going on.

Yeah definitely, thing is I was reading yesterday that C5 have splashed out on surveillance equipment and they actually have the largest number of cameras to date for a BB series. Given that it really makes no sense for them to not have a LF tbh

I have feeling though that the lack of l/f is less about the money and more about wanting to control what we see and what kind of a show we get. I'm getting more and more fed up with all these "Reality" shows tbh, I'm on the verge of having reality show protest and not watching any of them anymore (Gavin is praying for that day to come!)

Hmm true, I guess they're trying to build on the success of shows like TOWIE, Geordie Shore and Made in Chelsea, maybe the times of actually having true Reality TV with 24/7 footage is just over :shurg:

the comment about being hung like a jungle wasp was the more racist comment
and the first comment was more offensive to wheelchair users
so he potentially offended two groups of people
doesn't matter if we are not offended because big brother has set its rules that the housemates must follow
got to look at it objectively
nothing offends me personally, they could make jokes about genocide for all i care
but if big brother has informed housemates of the rules and a housemate breaks them, then they are entitled to give a warning
he actually got off lightly because in my opinion jay's comments were worse than emily's, who got ejected
