Yeah, Scream was definately the most influential, quote Scary Movie and see how many people know what you're talking about, quote Scarface and everyone knows what you are talking about.
If you want a defining and influential slasher, at least go for Psycho, Halloween or Friday the 13th.

Influence does not always equal imitation. And video games never even crossed my mind because A) I don’t play them and B) we were talking about cinema.
And why even bring up Psycho and Halloween? To prove your film knowledge? What relevance do they have to this particular argument?
