Default X Factor USA makes the UK version look crap

Not been watching it that much, but from what I've seen theres a really high standard of talent, see below

Spoiler:

apparently she isn't in the live shows

and this woman even manages to put Ruth to shame

kind of puts ours in perspective

You moan at people for posting in the Big Brother forum and slagging it off when they don't watch it

I've never watched much of the UK version and even though I haven't watched all of the USA version, I do agree that it is better.

I am gonna say the same thing I say, on DS. the whole judges house part in the US version, was auto tuned. Its so obvious, when you watch the show. Its not gonna make that big of a fuss in the US, because people dont scrutinize everything like they do here in the UK. Like when they had auto tune last year, it was a big scandal, all over the newspapers. But over there, people probably wont even notice.

My point is, a lot of them will sound much better than they really are, compared to the UK kids; in the judges house, because they are auto tuned. Watch it again and you will see how obvious it is.

They were both really good, especially that Stacey woman, I can see her going far in the competition, her audition was amazing too.

None of them two posted sounded autotuned to me. Have you got an example of any which is really evident?

They've obviously played with the sound but its far from autotuned. X Factor are shocking at disguising autotuning and its the same team doing the US show as the UK show, it would be a lot more evident

To Callum, Are you kidding! I watched them all, they were all auto tuned. The first one on this thread is a perfect example. CAnt you tell! She sounds like she is in a studio, and its very echoey! She sounds nothing like someone singing outside, like they normally do in the judges house.

You will probably realise this, as soon as you hear the live shows, unless they use it there are well, but I hope they dont!

to Tom, its not the same team. This is Fox. If anything, the team will be the same as the one on American idol, for technical stuff. And to me, it sounds; pretty obvious, you can tell they are not singing outdoors.

Its more obvious if you listen to the groups actually!

Fox aren't producing the show just like ITV aren't producing the UK version. Its Syco TV (Simon Cowell's TV company) and Fremantle Media doing both. Simon took most of the UK production team to America which is why the shows are almost shot for shot identical.

The outdoor isssue is just because they've tweaked the audio and removed any background noise. Its not hard to do, its even something I did years ago when I was doing my media A level and had to produce something. It doesn't mean its been autotuned. They've done it on the UK show for years.

THIS is autotuned:

Listen to how obvious it is here!

They clearly think that they sounded crap, but they actually sound pretty good. And watch the lips!

I get what you mean but I'm not convinced its autotuned, probably just due to post production. Not sure what you were getting at with their lips, it all seems pretty much in sync to me. I think a lot of what you see is just in your head because we're not used to backing tracks at that stage (which has clearly been readded again in post production, just like they do on our auditions).

I don't mind the US version but there's something missing. I love L.A Reid as a judge though.

It's not autotune, it's probably just a slight bit of vocal processing. Autotune does not sound that smooth.

It's obvious that with a much larger population than the UK, the American version would have better contestants, but oh dear, how fantastic are the contestants in the USA version?! Especially the groups and the girls.

It's nice that a workaholic like Nicole has got the over 30's because you look at Nicole and what she will do, and look at what Louie does with the overs and it's a different show.

I think the favourites are Melanie and Astro.
To me, the overs haven't got much of a chance apart from Stacy who will cry into the top 3 (how ugly are her lips with all that lipstick?)
Simon has a "Cher Lloyd" in the black girl that Nicole didn't like. He will try and fix the show so that she stays in. He really seems to like her.
I like Lakoda Rayne. They can all sing.

With regards to the autotune issues - there's no way on earth that you would get those type of accoustics in such a wide open space, so I just believed they backed up the vocals with some pre or post-recorded vocals. You DON'T sound like that in someones rather large garden !

The overs category in the US is about 100x better than UK.

Overs category in the UK was good in series 5 with Rachel & Ruth and in series 6 with the 3 men. They decided to turn it back into the joke category last year though which is a shame because both last year and this year they could have had another really strong category. But I guess having Wagner and Johnny is more value than someone like Carolynne Poole
