They have been brought up very differerntly and think very differently in result to it. Its just a matter of disagreeing a lot rather than having all those negative personality traits. But they still try their best to look out for each other.

Jem is obviously more serious more often than Faye.

I'm blowing nothing out of proportion. I'm commenting on what I see, and I can tell you now, there is something seriously wrong with Jem in the manner in which she tries to control and continually berate Faye.
