You could argue of course that the panel needs to be more serious, but let's face it, it's all panto...you need that element of humour.

The role that he fills is entertaining, yes, but I don't think he himself is entertaining. There are plenty of people who could take on that role and do it better than Louis. The show needs him this year because he's experienced in the role, but if Simon, Cheryl and Dannii were still there and somebody else had replaced Louis, I really doubt anyone would have missed his presence on the show. It's panto but it doesn't have to be stupid.
