they are like kinda crunchy and have a bit of a southern fried potato wedge taste to them

Oh yes! But my favourite was huge plates of antipasti... mozzarella, HUGE olives, salamis, ham, artichoke, bread etc... all washed down with fantastic (yet cheap) wine! I was in heaven!

carls jr is good as well, though they aren't really in the midwest. five guy burgers are the best though

If you search hard enough you can fine lovely little places that are similar to the real thing, but that is in London and Edinburgh, I do not know about anywhere else in the UK to find stuff, I am sure there are though.
Real rustic italian food is to die for though, we went to tuscany and I died and went to food heaven.

It's not snobbery! I'm hardly a snob; I just love eating out and enjoy gorgeous food. It doesn't always have to be expensive or pretentious to be classed as fine dining.
