My dad passed away at home in 1996 myself mum and sister were there to say goodbye.
A week later we were sat in the same room as macmillan had called to collect the equipment. Mum started crying, the room was instantly full of a scent..
(I know this is reported often)
I couldn't describe it, it was like really really expensive perfume..
and very strong. We just stared at each other then as quick as it came it was gone.
It was the most comforting thing, and really helped us grieve.

..I've often heard people say that the 'spirit' lingers for a few weeks or so after death....and yes, people do say it's comforting..

I swear to god that happened us this year after my brother passed, myself and his daughter were going through his things and got this really sweet smell pass over the room, it was gone a few seconds later, then it happened again a week later when my sister was beside me...
