eh, it gives you character. going through life not liking people (whether it's unrequited or not) would be dull. I was in love with someone for about 3 years, and nothing ever happened, but it's probably made me better as a person - it's taught me not to expect miracles, it's taught me to value friendship more and it's opened my eyes to a wonderful world of painful, interesting, emotional art and music.
