Of course they are, who are we to say otherwise? You and I both know it's wrong to kill spiders, but that doesn't mean it's going to stop (I never said it would), just that in an ideal world we wouldn't be so narcissistic about our own species.
Like I said, we're equal but I'd still save the human. It wouldn't feel right to save an animal. I know that's contradictory but that's the issue here. We
are equal but there's just something ingrained in us that makes the large majority want to save our own. I guess that's all it is...an inherent loyalty to our kind.
