Default Pork chops - Need help from the ladies.

How do you cook them? I always cook steak, lamb chops and things in the griddle pan, but I always just cook PC's in the oven as I'm weary about under cooking them. Unfortunately, this really dries them out.

How do you cook yours?

I cook everything in the oven. That way i'm less likely to burn things.

How long do you cook each side, then how long in the oven?

I know that a nice thick steak is 2 mins each side, but PC's are difficult to judge.

Press the top of the chop and see how far your finger goes in. If it doesn't go in very far its probably overdone.

Sexist thread

You probably already ate them by now but if you are sick of them drying up or just want a change try this...my OH loves when I make them this way:

Put them in a casserole dish, cut some onions up and add them on top then mix up an oxo cube with water (I use 2) and pour over the chops and onions to cover then add it to a preheated oven for about 45 mins, turn the chops over and put them back in the oven until you see the fluid thickening up a little bit and they will be lovely cooked and tender.

Thanks for that. Don't you find that the gravy is really fatty? I have eaten them now but I may well give that a try next time.

I covered them in honey last night before shoving them in the oven, and I ended up just ruining a baking tray as it had runny honey welded to it.

Oh, I've just remembered something my mum used to do with pork chops.. Can't remember exactly, but they were done in cider and had crispy cheese and breadcrumbs on top. God they were good!!

Nah it doesnt turn out that fatty, I try to use chops that have hardly any fat on them though.

And you could have got that honey off your baking tray with cola.

You have to go with the frying method if you want them to be as tasty as possible. Not as healthy though! My fav is breading them in Panko crumbs(Google it), with a light egg wash to make it all stick, and some thyme, and whatever spices you like, and then a bit of olive(or whatever oil you prefer) in the pan. Heat each side 7 minutes, turning only once. That's for chops a half inch or 3/4s. Thinner chops take less time.

Also, I carve off the fat from around the edges a bit if I find the butcher has done a **** job, but definitely leave some or most on, otherwise you won't get the flavor intended. Gl, and PM if you want some of my recipes.
