Merry xmas or happy holidays which is right. i ask as i have seen a few arguments about this during xmas amongst people who never argue lol

what do you say? what do you consider to be right

I don't mind either of those...I have an issue with Happy Christmas as I think it should be Merry Christmas and Happy New Year but I guess that's just me being pedantic.

doesn't really matter, but I always viewed Happy Holidays as including Christmas (and all the run up) and New Years so I usually just say that

Happy holidays is more of an American thing isn't it, tend to hear it more on their films and tv shows

Happy holidays is an American saying
They have a slightly different meaning for holiday which we don't use
