Disregarding the bit in bold precisely because no one was right, there were no sides to be taken here, Jim made a comment and Linda made it about her and got offended by it. It has nothing to do with "obsessive stanning" it's just calling it like I see it. Linda hates Jim and believes that her hate of him can be justified because she really believes that everything he says is a dig at her... which means that it doesn't matter whether or not he is making comments aimed at her, she's always going to assume that everything he says is an attempt to undermine her. The only "obsessive" behaviour is Linda's, not anyone at home viewing.
