It still terifies me but then I get there and you meet so many people straightaway that it is fine. Plus I see to many people go with friends and they fall out and then go it solo anyway (minus a friend they had from the UK).

I usually tell people that are doing it for the first time to join a small tour (somewhere like Thailand) to start with to ease into it and then plan the rest as they go as by then they feel more confident and know a few people.

Awesome. I honestly will look at every opportunity once I'm free, touring sounds like a good step. Glad to hear meeting others abroad doesn't sound troublesome.

Nah it is so easy, it's just that initial fear factor. It's no worse than starting uni, you know nobody there and you meet people instantly as long as you make a small bit of effort.

Join the queue, I already have several people asking me or who are currently away and are asking my advice.

Infact today I have just given advice on NZ to a member who is away travelling.

No, lol. Well sometimes, but rarely. Most countries do have public transport.
