He actually engaged me in political chat for about 5 minutes and seemed genuinely interested in my views.
He seemed like a thoroughly decent guy.

That's nice when you meet someone you admire and they turn out to be nice and not an arse, despite the fact you had him worried there for a minute...

I agree. Don't stone him. Walk him out of the back of a prison, shoot him in the back of the head and push him into a hole. Done. And yes, I would happily do the job.
