Veg good, spinach very good, potatoes naughty
![]() Empty starchy carbohydrates. I agree with not wanting to live on salads or veg but you can keep ALL of the tasty parts of a diet and just cut the "bulk" by removing white bread, pasta and potatoes. All are basically nutritionally worthless. |

You're Irish, that's different, it's a specialised diet for Irish people. Like, cows can survive eating just grass but most species couldn't. Likewise, all that is needed to sustain the Irish is the humble potato. The leading theory is that Irish people have evolved a special enzyme that actually converts potato starch into a superfood. It's fascinating stuff really. I actually saw a documentary recently in which they demonstrated Potatogenesis - a process by which elderly Irish people are buried up to their necks in a field for a few months and then when you return, they have sprouted more Irish people.
