That's not going to be possible putting an officer on every late night service is it?
I doubt if railstaff would relish the idea of playing nanny either, but it's an idea as was the female only carriages.. both have drawbacks.

We used have guards on every train before it all came down to turning a profit don't see why the train companies can't step up here after all it's happening on their watch and their profits are enormous

If they had manned CCTV in operation on late night trains that would be an ideal solution for me, I agree the duty of care lies with them.
