The communist party in greece hasn't killed anyone.

I assume you are referencing the USSR - to which I respond that communism and stalinism are not the same thing at all. I also dont think communism would be great for Greece's recovery, and would prefer something more sensible and based on investment rather than cuts.
Thanks for the link.

The Chinese have not exactly a clean record on either front, just to back up Kirk's point.

I wouldn't advocate any form of extremist party, and any time the population are under hardship it is the direction they go in because the normal centre parties have not solved their issues.

Greece will more than likely shift to the right as they have nowhere "left" to go. It won't solve their problems though and there will be yet another election held sometime soon.

Most communists whose blog posts or youtube comments I have read seem to say that they don't see China as a good example either - reasons being that democracy needs to be established and whatnot. I don't know an awful lot about China and communism so I couldn't comment really.

I also think there will be another election called, neither Syriza or New Democracy are up to the job.

I don't really think this is the thread to get in to a debate about communism, but from a purists perspective, communism as a thing can never be implemented in reality. All we get is approximations to to the principles, and China arguably are more pure than others including the old USSR.

Anyway, China have a terrible record on both racism and murders.

This is Greece's fifth election in six years, I think they're done with left or right lurches and would just like some stability and longevity in their government now which is why a lot of voters are reverting to the conservative New Democracy party. I think Syriza have been a bit of a disaster really but at least Tsipras did secure another bailout and keep Greece in the Euro: the left of the party might think that's a betrayal but I agree with him that it was necessary for the country. In some ways it could be good for him to be re-elected so that he can see that through although he's proven so unpredictable that the rest of the Eurozone will never be too comfortable with him leading Greece.
