Yeah, that's what worries me. Putin thinks he is free to do whatever he likes and at the moment, he pretty much is. If he joined up with the rest of the world trying to fight IS and bring about the end of the conflict in Syria it'd be a great coup... sadly he's got his own agenda.

He cares about being a historical figure. he's a megalomaniac. just look at how he orchestrated his presidency, having a stand in to get around the limitations of presidential terms with Medvedev as his puppet, just waiting in the wings that whole time scheming. he really is a scary nefarious character. The narcissistic photo opportunities he insists on killing tigers or going deep sea diving. he's a lunatic.
