I don't think there is an out of context here.
There's no justification for arbitrarily banning everyone of one single religious group from entering a country / subjecting them to stricter checks than everyone else. For one, how do you even "prove" that someone is a muslim? Surely anyone with bad intentions would just say they're non-religious, or any other world religion? So then the only way to judge the criteria becomes to racially profile people with certain skin colours or from certain countries as "potential Muslims". That is NOT a path we want to go down. Also it's an ineffective one since plenty of ISIS jihadists have been white Muslims. How do you stop those from entering the US? They could just... you know... pretend not to be Muslim. . It's hardly an evil masterplan.
Basically it's a plan that's completely full of holes. If the US really wants to go down this route, then it needs to be a policy of closing the borders to everyone, or more strictly assessing and monitoring every person who enters. Suicide bombers don't wear badges saying "I'm a Muslim!" ffs.

* Just to add, I actually think in an ideal world everyone WOULD be free to wander and explore the entire globe. "Countries" and "Borders" are ridiculous human concepts with no actual meaning... they are an illusion / fabrication that everyone just goes along with. However, I accept that the Plague of Humans has reached proportions where free access to the world is no longer possible, and won't be again until a wonderful cleansing virus of some description wipes the population down from 7.5 billion to a few dozens of millions which would be a more reasonable population level for us silly old apes. What a day. What a lovely day.

..just to add to this because yeah, there are many opinions on border control in many countries...but this isn't just where his racism lays, he's expressed it many times before this so this isn't an isolated thing to consider..his opinions on this...what would have been interesting is if IS hasn't existed or hadn't existed in how active they've been in their terrorist attacks over the last while and countries on high alert..because what he's doing is using people's deepest and highlighted fears of terrorist attacks atm, he's exploring the fears of the nation, poking into them because he knows that how scared people are, that's pretty deplorable really, a lowest of a low...it's not just the Muslims who are his 'victims' it's all of the USA citizens who have real and justified fears over terrorism....
