I think the prestige is mainly because winning competitions are an integral part of the game. If someone does say 'I won competitions' as a way of justifying their win then it's probably because they're clutching at straws to get people to vote for them.
I think it's quite similar to Survivor in that some people literally won immunity right until the endgame, but weren't awarded the win because utimately they didn't play the actual game as well as their opponent. I think it's Big Brother is very similar in that regard, but I suppose it does vary depending on the situation.
I'd like to think the brothers wouldn't win based on winning comps, especially since the jury have already callled them out for being such dumb players
