Yeah, and it's weird in a sense that most gay people who are on TV tend to say that a majority of the hateful comments they get are mainly from other gay people, which is a whole different issue in itself

It's definitely a shame. But like you said, there's always progress. The U.K. is generally an okay place to be yourself, though there are (and probably always will be) problems. As long as you friend has people like you to make them happy then things should be fine
