I think it'd be pretty over sensitive to see this kind of behaviour as 'spiteful'. It's not directly harming anybody, it's all in good fun and humour.

It isn't good humour to waste 6 eggs when four is needed for a communal dinner. I don't even believe you believe this. And Bear certainly doesn't either, he just knows it will get him votes and he's not wrong.
