Bear hates to be ignored and that was the tactic that Renee and Aubrey were using to cope with his idiotic behaviour.

He did this, not to be nice and possibly to elicit a favourable reaction from them, (he's not bothered so long as he gets some sort of reaction), but to "kill them with kindness", as he revealed to Marnie minutes before he offered them both some breakfast.

The operative word here is "KILL".

You could have a heated argument with him, then 10 minutes later he'd say (like Bear) 'want a cup of tea?'

It's something I try to do in my life. Holding grudges like Renee and Aubrey is nasty. It's also very immature.

I don't think that's genuine, Gusto. I think he does bear grudges and looks for opportunities to get revenge.

The trait you describe of your Dad's is one I share, but I think Bear is faking it.
